AWS Summit: Subin Subaiah, CEO of Spuul & Spokkz, On Their Successful Partnership with AWS

Always warms my heart to see Spuul still rocking.

Sometimes the smaller guys in the OTT space are often overlooked.

Spuul continues to break new ground and evolve with the space.

AWS Summit: Subin Subaiah, CEO of Spuul & Spokkz, On Their Successful Partnership with AWS:

Originally, Spuul was based on a subscription video on demand (SVOD) based, whereby subscribers would watch movies from a catalogue that Spuul had in its portfolio. However, as the service expanded to more countries, demands for linear TV watching increased in different regions of the world and this was not longer possible to accomplish in house. Therefore, a partnership with AWS was needed.

Asia Tech Review: August 6 2018 | Revue

Totally agree with Jon on this. Let’s wait to see what they ship but doesn’t make one feel any better about Google.

Asia Tech Review: August 6 2018 | Revue:

As I said on Twitter, Google has done a lot more than most to help increase internet adoption in India, Southeast Asia and other markets through initiatives such as free WiFi, data-friendly apps, and even ‘lite’ versions of Android. Arguably this all serves the purpose of widening the market it can monetize, but the impact is positive for all. However, its seemingly financially-motivated return to China – and 180-degree flip on opposing censorship – threatens to remove any positive sentiment about its business and progress in Asia.

Why It’s Time for Les Moonves to Go — You Can’t Charm Your Way out of Sexual Misconduct

Good to see this – seems everyone was so quiet in the LA area. CBS is totally blowing it by not at least putting him on leave till they actually fire him.

I just returned from a week’s vacation in the mountains where I had almost no Internet access but was aware that Ronan Farrow had published a damning sexual misconduct article about Les Moonves, the…

One investing firm is behind a string of this year’s big money-making moments in Silicon Valley – Recode

Great read.

This one gets me – I know this feeling:

Undoubtedly. It’s an amazing company — we should’ve owned more. But for us, it was an incredibly important investment.

Social media

Like everyone else I am mostly disillusioned with social media these days. I don’t have Instagram or Facebook apps on my phone. I logged myself out of Facebook on my laptop and I only have it logged in on my phone with a mobile browser – which isn’t a great user experience and mostly keeps me off of it.

I love twitter but I feel like I am using it less.

I basically feel like my home is this blog and it’s so easy to share stuff that I find myself just sharing here. Will see if that works or not.

I also like connecting with folks and find chat working okay with that – my telegram group is here :: https://t.me/SeedPlus

Exclusive: India panel wants localization of cloud storage data in possible blow to big tech firms | Reuters:

The policy will be the latest in a series of proposals that seek to spur data localization in India, as the government finalizes an overarching data protection law. Local data storage requirements for digital payments and e-commerce sectors are also being planned.

The authorities want the information stored locally so that they can more easily get access to it when conducting investigations.
